Luminus ShamalStart has revealed its initial prototype of the “AMBU Bag Automation device”, in cooperation with TechWorks, one of Crown Prince Foundation initiatives. The device provides oxygen to patients requiring breathing assistance.
The innovation is based on “oxygen” project that was adopted in Spain and was approved by the medical authorities, which works on modifying the equipment and devices in line with Jordan’s needs and the available materials in the current situation.
Notably, the completed prototype contains a built-in monitoring system that transfers the number of breaths to an online application, where all the necessary tests and assessments that are needed for the evaluation of the device will be undertaken to verify its ability in the medical field during and after this crisis.
Luminus ShamalStart has mentioned that this invention aims to help the medical staff in emergency situations and with patients who are in need of invasive ventilators, as this model does not require the need to insert a breathing tube through the patient’s mouth when using it. The designers of this device have replaced the manual method of pumping air by healthy staff by using simple engines, where the purpose of their development of this prototype is to seek the approval of the relevant authorities to use it in combating Covid-19 pandemic.
The project also invented and tested protective face shields that are designed and manufactured through modern technologies using lasers, to provide full protection for its users and especially to the health crews who work against the emerging of Covid -19.
The face shields have been supported by a layer of PETG, which works to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 and protect the medical staff while using it with N95 masks, which are essential at this stage.
Because Covid -19 attacks the respiratory system, it has been reported that there is a shortage in the number artificial respirators that help patients to breath. Therefore, the idea behind the prototype of this invention was to provide a number of pulmonary resuscitation pumps for the automated AMBU Bag to help healthcare personnel that are on the front line of the nation’s fight against Covid – 19.
The efforts to create the prototype came as a contribution to combat the spread of this virus that threatens the life of the whole world, and as part of the social responsibility that everyone has to take the necessary precautions and measures to help eliminate this epidemic.
